Teeth Whitening Procedure To Consider

Teeth Whitening Procedure To Consider

Whether you are talking or laughing, you will always expose your teeth to people. Try to imagine for a second if they were brown. Some people would mock you for having stained teeth, which would quickly kill your confidence. If this is the case for you, you should walk into the dntl studio to have them whitened.

The beauty of tooth whitening is that it is non-invasive, so there are minimal chances of experiencing any side effects. You are probably wondering how this procedure works. Here are its steps below.

Table of Contents

  • Dental Examination
  • Cleaning and Polishing
  • Coating With Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Rinsing Out the Solution
  • Fluoride Treatment

Dental Examination

First, the dentist will examine your teeth and determine whether or not you are an ideal candidate. Generally, teeth whitening is suitable for external stains caused by smoking, eating, and drinking. Therefore, the procedure will not work for stains caused by decay or trauma.

After that, your dentist will use a shade guide to determine the concentration of the solution to use for your teeth. If they do not use it, they may either under-bleach or over-bleach your teeth.

Cleaning and Polishing

Next, your dentist will clean and polish your teeth with pumice. Typically, people must clean their teeth properly in readiness for this procedure. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to clean away plaque or tartar at home, so dentists do this step to eliminate them. If these dental issues are not cleared, the bleaching agents will not work properly.

When you brush your teeth, it is important to use desensitizing toothpaste if you occasionally experience sensitivity. This is important since dentists will use chemicals on your teeth, and you may experience the sensation.

Coating With Hydrogen Peroxide

When the doctor applies the hydrogen peroxide solution to your teeth, they focus only on the front side. Nobody can see the posterior of your teeth no matter how much you smile, so they ignore the area. Based on the results from your shade guide, they will use percentages between 10 and 40.

This solution opens up pores in your teeth and fights off the stains from within. Your dentist will leave the coating for around half an hour.

Rinsing Out the Solution

As effective as hydrogen peroxide is in teeth whitening, your dentist cannot leave the coating on your teeth for too long. That is because you would begin to experience teeth sensitivity. The chemical can also damage the protective enamel if used in high concentrations.

Your dentist will rinse out all the solutions from all angles. If they must, they will even brush your teeth, but that is not something to be embarrassed about.

Fluoride Treatment

Finally, your doctor will brush your teeth with fluoride varnish. This chemical helps to sustain the whiteness of your teeth. Another reason for its use is to eliminate any remaining plaque since it can undo your efforts by staining them.

In general, this procedure lasts for about a year. That will only happen if you take care of your teeth. To ensure they remain white for that long, avoid acidic foods like sodas and lemons. They weaken the enamel, which makes your teeth prone to staining. The best foods that preserve your whiteness include apples, carrots, and celery. They produce saliva, which cleans teeth to counteract any acids. If you can stick to this diet schedule, then you are ready for teeth whitening.
