5 Common Causes Of Hip Pain – How To Diagnose It

Hip pain has become too common nowadays with the young and old complaining now and then. But what could be the cause? Hip pain might be caused by several conditions, such as arthritis, dislocations, fractures, or pinched nerves. If ignored, the pain in your hip can spread and cause severe spine issues. But worry not as Hip Albany treatments are here to offer a helping hand. Let’s run through a roundup of some hip pain causes and how to overcome them.

Table of Contents

  • Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Hip impingement (Femoroacetabular)
  • Aging
  • When does hip pain warrant seeing a specialist?

Arthritis

Though common in aged adults, Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis are the most known causes of hip pains. Arthritis generates from the breakdown of the cartilage that protects your hip bone, causing inflammation in the hip. Your joints become stiff, reducing the range of movements as the pain gradually elevates.

Carry out low-impact workouts such as stretching, which reduces irritation and improves your joint mobility. Rheumatoid arthritis may be treated by prescription inflammatory drugs and biologics that boost the Immune system. Advanced Osteoarthritis may be treated by hip replacement when the hip bone is completely deformed.

Tendonitis

Tendons are a code of strong muscles connecting your bones and muscles that enhances limb motion. If you are a dynamic athlete and you experience that your hip flexor is tender and painful when you move, then you have tendonitis. It may develop due to over usage of tendons or injuries.

You can treat tendonitis at home. Resting, compression, elevation, and placing a block of ice on the hip joint are effective.

Bursitis

Bursae are a form of liquid lubricant found between your bones. It helps prevent friction when tendons and muscles are rubbing together. Carrying out repetitive physical exercise may trigger inflammation of the bursae leading to a sensational sharp pain irritating the hip joint.

Taking inflammatory drugs or taking safety remedies helps ease the pain. But if the pain endures, visit your doctor for a cortisone injection.

Hip impingement (Femoroacetabular)

Hip impingement is a condition that affects anyone, irrespective of age. It mainly occurs when something prevents regular, smooth, and free movement. Structurally, abnormalities of the hip bone (either from birth or during development) may lead to hip impingements. Moving your legs beyond your normal range may also cause this condition.

Consecutive treatment such as rest, anti-inflammatory meds, modification, and physical therapy will help treat hip impingements.

Aging

Just like your house, your body is durable but not indestructible. It is subjected to wear and tear. Aging causes the labral ring of cartilage surrounding your hip to unravel, leading to unbearable pain in the hip joint.

Carrying out regular exercise, engaging in pain-free exercises, and cutting the extra weight will help ease hip pain.
